All I have to say about this post is that the topic chosen for discussion is one of the most challenging and is really very less talked about, I will help with some resources as well and I hope you will get enough information from the experts here. I will keep it concise and best to my knowledge. Please reply and post here if you really find this information helpful, also write about how you applied this, so that it can help other people as well.

As stated above, the native resolution of this monitor is only 1440x900 per EDID. The only good thing about this TV is that it can be had fairly cheaply, on Newegg for far cheaper than here.

Crap OSD, junk remote, runs hot, loud, takes forever to switch plus 1440x900 native res = trash unit, in fact that is where mine is going, the TRASH!

<<<<<< Superb 1920 X 1200 HD Monitor and a Lousy HDTV >>>>>>

This is a puzzling case of erroneous classification! .... I am not certain as to upon whom we should rest the blame; whether The manufacturer, the importer-distributor, or Amazon! But the same problem is inherent in all the models of this VIORE; classified as 16:9 and 1080p full HDTV, while indeed it is not.

I am inclined to believe that this set was designed as a 19200 X 1200 HD Monitor, and subsequently the manufacturer added a digital TV tuner, then classified it as a 1080p HDTV. There is an intrinsic problem with this, if that was the case. The native resolution is 1440 X 900 Only resulting in a distorted image.

a resolution of 1920X1200 by necessity requires a screen aspect ratio of 8 : 5, which is 16:10. This aspect ratio does not translate into 1080p which requires a screen aspect ratio of 16:9. The result is when you use it as a computer monitor you get a full HD of 1920 X 1200 which is superb. Once you switch it to TV mode, however, the image becomes compressed horizontally and stretched vertically; in other words, the image is distorted, and cannot be corrected due to the fact that the tuner processes the signal for a 1440 X 900 resolution, because the screen can support only this number according to its aspect ratio.

If you have a need for an ultra large computer monitor with a 1920 X 1200 Resolution, this VIORE is perhaps the best value in this category out there. It is an outstanding HD monitor but a lousy HDTV.

Conclusion: This is a superb 1920 X 1200 HD Monitor, bang for the buck without equal, and at the same time, it is a lousy HDTV.

I purchased this tv on sale for $449. For the price, I'm very satisfied with the picture and overall quality. The sound is okay, but I will probably add surround sound soon. The tv takes about 6 seconds to power on and I cannot program for cable remote - minor annoyances. My tv had no dead pixels, no damage from shipping and was quick to install. I'll probably upgrade in a year or two, but my tv completely went out on me and I didn't want to drop $1,000 so this tv will get me by quite nicely.
